An Artist's Line

If there was one fault that Toon Boom Studio has it would have to be with its selection of pens. Since the software is a vector program the lines that are created on the interface are often hard, artificial, not really evoking the feel of the artist’s hand. Jake Verso, one of the great animators in our class, made a very good suggestion that I use Photoshop to get a softer line with the animation. I used the software with my animation in the middle of production for my short film “The Illusion of Life” and I was able to get the mre natural line work to the drawings I always wanted. This brief pencil test was the first time I used the software for the film's animation.
